The opening ceremony for MEDCEUR 2009 military medical exercise will be held on Wednesday, 2 September 209, in Knjaz Mihailo barracks in Nis at 09:15 hours. The exercise will be opened by Zoran Vesic , State Secretary in MoD, and this will be followed by media statements
600 participants from 15 countries will take part in the exercise held from 02 to 13 September, where Serbia is a host for the first time. The exercise is organized by EUCOM and SAF and has for years been conducted in the Central and South Eastern Europe.
The purpose of the exercise is to train the military medical staff in providing support and relief to natural disaster and mass casualties. This concept of the exercise  pertains to the third mission of SAF, that is, of providing support to the civil authorities in providing relief and assistance.
The participants will attend lectures and courses in KNjaz Mihailo barracks in the first, theoretical part scheduled for the first week.  The practical part will be held in Car Konstantin airfield on nine sites.
